Walk with Wildlife Tour

Your Walk with Wildlife experience

Immerse yourself in nature with a 75-minute Walk with Wildlife Tour through the magical Otways bushland of the Wildlife Wonders Sanctuary.

Here you’ll discover lush tree fern gullies, explore eucalypt woodlands and marvel at spectacular ocean vistas.

The tour winds along a gentle, 1.4km path suitable for all ages and abilities.

Along the way your Nature Guide will share with you the secrets of the bush and the plants and animals of the Otways that call the Sanctuary home.

The Sanctuary is protected by a fox and cat proof fence, so it is free from feral predators. This means you’ll be able to enjoy a thriving Otways ecosystem that simply can’t be found elsewhere.

Each nature tour will be a unique experience, encountering different, beautiful Australian animals living freely, as they would be in the wild.

It’s almost certain you will see koalas, kangaroos and emus, but you might also be lucky enough to spot a potoroo, bandicoot and many other amazing Australian animals and birds living in their natural habitats.

Wildlife Wonders directly supports the environment, with 100% of profits invested in vital research and conservation projects to save threatened species.

Private Walk with Wildlife Tours are also available.

Frequently asked questions

  • The Sanctuary is experienced on a booked guided tour only. We have different tour options available and multiple tours running daily. We encourage you to book ahead, however you can pop in and our front desk team will help you.

Our Visitor Centre, Emu Cafe and Gift & Book Shop are open to everyone, whether you are entering the Sanctuary or not.

  • At Wildlife Wonders the wildlife roam freely within the Sanctuary and we want them to continue to thrive. So for the safety of the animals and their homes, the only way to experience the Sanctuary is one of our guided tours. Plus by joining a tour with one of our Nature Guides you will learn and likely see so much more.

  • Wildlife Wonders was built with accessibility in mind. We can tell you there are no steps throughout the entire experience, there are wide doorways and smooth path gradients, but we also understand every individual and every person’s needs are different. Please read our Accessibility page for more in depth information. If you can’t find what you’re looking for or have specific questions, please get in touch via phone, in person or email and chat with our friendly team. We endeavour to do our best to be an inclusive experience for everyone.

  • Wildlife Wonders is home to koalas, eastern grey kangaroos, emus, swamp wallabies, red-shouldered wallabies, long-nosed potoroos, a whole array of native birds and so, so many more. The Sanctuary is surrounded by a predator proof fence and being a sanctuary, the animals live as they would in the wild. There are no enclosures here. For this reason, we can’t guarantee which animals you will see on your tour but we do know that every tour experience is a completely unique one.

Also to consider is that many Australian animals are crepuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk. So for your best chance at spotting more native wildlife, we recommend a Dusk Discovery Tour or a Dawn Discovery Tour.

Visit our Wild Lives to learn about all the wildlife who call the Sanctuary home.

  • Yes! Kids will love using their binoculars (provided for loan to everyone on the tour) to look for koalas in treetops and learn about the native flora and fauna of the Otways in a fun, engaging way. The walk is easy, even for little legs, and gives everyone plenty of time to stop and look around. The tour path is pram friendly for the even littler ones (and free for kids aged 3 and under).

  • It is highly recommended that you book in advance, especially in the warmer months when the Great Ocean Road can be a little busier. You can book online anytime, or you’re welcome to call us on (03) 7046 1664 or pop in and our friendly front desk team can help you book the next available tour.
